Location: The Warren

These shots show one of the possible locations, The Warren in Folkestone. The area is surrounded by woodland, cliffs and the sea. When looking down on the area it is an open space, however, on the beach and inside the wooded areas it is an enclosed space. It gets dark quickly, and has a scary atmosphere as a result of this. The second image shows the walkway down to The Warren, a small and narrow path, which is a typical convention of locations in supernatural horror films, for example The Woman in Black. The sign pointing to The Warren is also a typical horror convention of locations. Also the noun ‘Warren’ suggests an enclosed habitat, full of wild animals, away from society and is related to danger. This further reinforces the scary atmosphere.
